Beaumaris, Anglesey, North Wales

The town of Beaumaris is located on the east coast of Anglesey with distant views to the mountains of Snowdonia and Llandudno's Great Orme.

The town's main feature is it's castle which was built during the reign of Edward I in the 13th century and the structure remains mostly intact to this day. The castle is open to visitors most days of the year and provides a fascinating insight into life in the Middle Ages.

The town is a popular tourist area on the island with its many attractions and beautiful views and is easily reached and well signposted via the main north Wales A55 dual carriageway.

Beaumaris Attractions

As well as the castle visitors to the town should pay a visit to the Beaumaris Gaol and discover what life was like on Anglesey for Victorian prisoners. Also of interest is Beaumaris Courthouse which is one of Anglesey's most famous buildings. The courthouse was built in 1614 and was used to try prisoners for hundreds of years.

Close to the centre of the town is the Museum of Childhood Memories and a walk down memory lane for adults and children alike.
